Bill Gates, Microsoft founder, has come to fear mosquitos. He discusses the global consequences of mosquito-borne disease in humans, fears and shares a clever video that reinforces mosquitos as a vector. The video’s mosquito character says, “I don’t want to kill, it’s just something inside me.”
For animal health professionals, mosquitos are most notably vectors for dog heartworm, West Nile virus and Eastern equine encephalitis. Education and awareness are critical to help reduce the risk of the initial mosquito bite.

Mosquito week. Even if you know that you’re 50,000 times more likely to get killed by a mosquito than a shark, human instinct wins out.
A photo of a shark attack victim on the evening news evokes a visceral reaction, because the threat is obvious. A picture of a malaria victim in a hospital ward doesn’t trigger our fear instinct in the same way.

INSIGHTS: Ceva’s investment in the American Heartworm Society and its own Double Defense Heartworm Protocol campaign reflects their commitment to helping animal health pros and pet owners stop mosquitos* before they have a chance to feed. Significant research was completed to show the effectiveness of Ceva’s Vectra® 3D topical parasiticide when combined with traditional heartworm preventatives. The Double Defense Heartworm Protocol approach targets not only heartworm disease, but also the vector.
DO NOT USE VECTRA® 3D ON CATS
