Choosing a pet boarding facility can be difficult. Social media reviews help identify potential problem locations, but having a strategic approach to choices is beneficial.
Jenifer Chatfield, DVM, Dipl. ACZM, Dipl. ACVPM, has created a guide to choosing a pet boarding facility. The information in the Guide arms pet lovers with questions to ask and red flags and green flags to look out for, she says. It also includes a “permission slip” to take to your veterinarian to make sure that your dog is as protected as possible from infectious diseases before going on the field trip to daycare or boarding.

INSIGHTS: We often advocate that veterinary clinic teams get to know boarders, groomers, and pet sitters, including gathering individual client choices in the PMS. Time constraints get in the way, so having a comprehensive guide available to share with pet owners will be appreciated.
