What’s really in a hot dog?
Source: PORK, May 26, 2023. Link. The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council says Americans eat about 20 billion hot dogs each year or 70 hot dogs per person each year. They consist mostly of edible trim from beef, pork and poultry which increases the profitability and sustainability of the slaughter processes. Hot dogs are fully cooked when purchased making them safe if eaten cold.
