Retired K-9 police dog, MSU researchers working to save pollinators

Research at Michigan State University’s Pollinator Performance Center includes Maple, an English Springer Spaniel who is training to detect the scent of American foulbrood, the spore‑forming bacteria that is highly contagious and destructive for honeybee larvae. Search dogs could save beekeepers a lot of time and improve their ability to detect AFB.
