New word, gigil describes seeing something unbelievably adorable
Source: NBC News, March 27, 2025. Link. The Tagalog word, “gigil” is among 42 new additions to the Oxford English Dictionary that are untranslatable or have no direct English equivalents. Gigil (pronounced “ghee-gill”) can be used as a noun or adjective. Used in Philippine English, it refers to a feeling “so intense that it gives us the irresistible urge to tightly clench our hands, grit our teeth, and pinch or squeeze whomever or whatever it is we find so adorable.”

The scientists tested 30 widely-used leading models and observed that state-of-the-art AIs readily lie when under pressure.
