Our industry has seen rapidly expanding consolidation since 1987. It has changed the veterinary business landscape worldwide. More than 60 veterinary consolidators are involved today and there will likely be more, says Ivan Zak, DVM.
Zak explains consolidators by type providing the list of active consolidators and their:
- Source of financing
- The number of hospitals they own
- States they operate in
- Practice eligibility criteria (features they are looking for in a practice to buy)
- Ownership agreement with practice owners (100 percent or majority/minority sale,
investment opportunities for practice sellers etc.)
- Business support offered (back-office, management, pharmaceuticals, etc.) in newly-purchased practices.
