Drinking water quality is considered important to the health and productivity of pigs and all animals for that matter. The classification of “quality” water includes more than just the mineral content. Preliminary data from a study at North Carolina State University suggests that drinking water and location may influence the sow microbiome.

INSIGHTS: Let’s not let this preliminary data go to waste on dogs, cats, cattle and horses. Water quality is a primary consideration for all species, including humans.
The presence of water in a bowl or tank does not mean the critter has quality water available.”
