Walnuts are poisonous

Walnut trees naturally produce a chemical called jugalone. It’s in the wood, fruits, leaves, roots and bark, although most heavily concentrated in the roots and fruits.

Walnut:

• is harmful to animals; dogs, horses, cows
• cannot be used as mulch
• is poisonous
• sawdust is toxic
• can cause a rash or reaction on people’s skin
