One Health Day is taking place November 3, 2016. The campaign is designed to engage as many individuals as possible from as many arenas as possible in One Health education and awareness events, and to generate an inspiring array of projects worldwide.
Veterinary medicine is the only profession that routinely operates at the interface of the three main components of One Health: the integrated effort of multiple disciplines working locally, nationally, and globally to attain optimal health for people, animals and the environment.

For many years now, the AVMA has been engaged in and an advocate for One Health, including the establishment of the One Health Initiative Task Force (OHITF), which launched the AVMA’s One Health initiative (not to be confused with the organization, the One Health Initiative). INSIGHTS: Our team reads content weekly about where zoonotic risks are or potentials exist. Locally, veterinarians and retailers can use One Health Day for a pre-holiday push toward preventative care for animals. Consider using marketing resources available from suppliers to support this effort and increase the awareness of how managing animal health is important to human health.
