The Veterinary Innovation Podcast hosted a frank discussion May 5th about difficulties vets face when navigating unclear, inconsistent, and rapidly changing VCPR regulations in the face of a global pandemic.
Covid-19 has been the impetus for a temporary relaxation of current VCPR laws in some states. Those changes have been the catalyst for some heated conversations about how veterinarians are able to establish, and maintain, the VCPR. Doug Raven, CEO of Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, shared experiences from Ontario’s implementation of telemedicine that has practically addressed many of the concerns of debated by U.S. animal health industry.
It’s ironic that it took a Canadian province to provide the laboratory for veterinary medicine in the United States to look at the actual performance of telemedicine and review all the U.S. fears and speculations against a lack of anything bad happening in Ontario” – Mark L. Cushing – CEO, Animal Policy Group
