Calling it “petuition,” December 2025 work from Talker Research has found the average pet parent worries about how happy their pets are 11 times per day, and worries about their pets’ health 10 times per day. Key findings included:
- Ignoring meals (35 percent)
- Having mobility issues (34 percent)
- Scratching or self-grooming more often (25 percent)
The research, commissioned by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, also queried owners about pet health advice, finding 74 percent fully trust their veterinarian. Forty six percent said they consult their veterinarians before anyone else. Only 14 percent trust AI, which was the most distrusted source (23 percent).

Commentary: Veterinary teams should be pleased to see the trust and consult-first scores. From our perspective, both scores emphasize accessibility, whether by telephone, chat, email, video tools or in-person. Consider visiting with teams about the survey results and emphasizing the importance of timely communications with animal owners.
