These include endorphins, melanocyte-stimulating hormone, ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) and CLIP (corticotropin-like intermediate peptide). These are the same hormones produced in high levels in horses with pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID), commonly known as Cushing’s disease.
