With growing interest in backyard hens, and with some towns and cities allowing residents to raise chickens in their backyards, Alberta Farm Animal Care is hosting a Backyard Chicken webinar series for beginner poultry raisers. The series covers information on flock health, handling, costs, bylaws, breeds, coop design, diseases and more.
Cassandra Kirkpatrick, Urban Hen workshop facilitator, will lead the 1-hour sessions, hosted on Zoom April 29, May 6 and 13 at 7:00 p.m. MDT, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. The information provided is not specific to Alberta. Registration is here <link>. Note: Latecomers are welcome.

INSIGHTS: Proper training and education helps ensure successful outcomes for urban hen and backyard chicken initiatives, including the health and welfare of the animals.
