Two professional organizations recently updated their policies. Only one made a commitment to reward-based training, writes Zazie Todd. She reviews evidence against aversive training and stances of various organizations noting these most recently:
- The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants decided to rule out the use of aversive methods by its members.
- The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers decided to still allows aversives, including shock and prong collars, in some circumstances.
