Research conducted at the University of California, San Diego, shows that dog participants successfully associated words their owners had recorded onto soundboards with the correct outcomes in real life and responded to those words without any other cues. Noting the research as a comprehension study, Federico Rossano, PhD, shared some of the dog participants are currently using more than 100 buttons, often combining them in nonrandom sequences.
