Dog-friendly tourism is a natural outgrowth of the human-animal bond. Cross-country travel to new environments includes risks from disease vectors that may not be present at home, plus the likelihood of nose-to-nose contact with unknown animals. Hence, traveling animals may need different vaccinations or preventative products than their stay-at-home counterparts. Veterinary teams as well as retailers need to consider helping pet owners be prepared well in advance of travel.
