Mati Abner, a Howe, Texas, high school student has shown livestock since third grade. This year, she wanted her friends with special needs to be able to show as well. So, she petitioned the Texoma Livestock Exposition and Livestock Show board. Her dream came true.

After more than 70 years in Texoma, this week will feature the expo’s first special needs livestock show, called Showing with Heart . . . Abner also has more than 100 volunteers to help the students show a pig, goat or rabbit. They each get two minutes in the spotlight, a ribbon and photo at the end.
INSIGHTS: Kudos to the Texoma Livestock Exposition and Livestock Show board of directors. They didn’t do this alone. In addition to Mati and her supporters, it’s likely animal health sales pros in the Texoma region helped make this happen. Let us know about other events like this.
