The results of a 2007-2008 study on producer awareness of BVD forms the foundation for a new study set to begin in 2017. The original study identified that BVD was unknown by smaller producers. For example, 15.5 percent of producers with fewer than 50 cows and 5.2 percent of producers with 50 to 99 cows were unaware of BVD. If you’re a veterinarian, large animal clinic staffer, dealer or livestock industry representative, please take 10 or 15 minutes to share your input before this study starts.

The USDA’s National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) will conduct a beef industry cow-calf study in 2017. In order to develop the most informative survey possible and to derive data that will be most beneficial to the stakeholders, NAHMS is currently seeking input on the most important issues for the cow-calf sector of the industry. A 10-question Web-based survey is available at: NAHMS Beef 2017 Needs Assessment Survey
