A new fictional book, My Name is Curly, supports both childrens’ reading and shelter animals. Research has shown that when children read to animals, it helps with their reading skills, helps children socialize. It also comforts and reduces the anxiety of shelter pets. Plus, it nurtures empathy in children.
Author and attorney Andi C. Kryszak says when she adopted her first rescue dog, Curly, she loved how he brought out her silly side and made her laugh! She hopes that Curlyʼs fictional story will inspire others to rescue dogs who need loving homes.
The book is wonderfully illustrated and captures the attention of even very young readers.
