The Early Regional Occurrence Warning project was launched with the Morrison Swine Health Monitoring Project in September 2022. Funded by the Swine Health Information Center, the effort aims to increase swine disease awareness, prevention and preparedness. The first TEROW report was sent May 9th and will be released weekly.
The TEROW report notifies participants if a swine disease is occurring in the region surrounding their production sites and alerts them of increases in regional disease occurrence. Enrollment in TEROW for MSHMP participants is dependent solely on signing a specific project agreement and no additional data is required as the project uses data already collected through MSHMP.

INSIGHTS: We applaud the initiative to improve communication and disease awareness by swine veterinarians and producers. This effort essentially moves word-of-mouth qualitative reporting to a quantitative platform that can benefit producers and veterinarians, save animal lives and improve food safety for the long term.
