Compliance in veterinary medicine is defined as the patient receiving the care the veterinary team believes is best. The acronym CRAFT, where compliance = recommendation + acceptance + follow-through, can help the team remember this definition. It is important that the client accepts recommendations. Following the recommendations at home is just as important.

It is important to remember that a practice visit involves not only the client’s physical presence, but also other contact points, e.g. phone calls, website visits, social media. Ensuring the entire team believes in the value of the practice’s services will make it easier for team members to endorse the services and for clients to realize the benefit of team member recommendations.
INSIGHTS – If you own a vet practice, manage one or have clinics as customers, consider including this quiz as a group activity for a veterinary team meeting. The principles it identifies can also help support commercial compliance program offerings.
