There’s no vaccine to control cryptosporidium, a parasite, not a bacteria and common scours-causing pathogens in preweaned calves. Preventing crypto versus treating it is best, according to Lea Poppe. She cites three proactive prevention strategies:
- Limiting environmental exposure
- Colostrum delivery
- Egg immunoglobulin enhancement
