Sometimes, people get frustrated when they send texts about urgent, important matters but don’t hear back right away. Realize that the person you are texting might not be available and that most likely, he or she will get back to you as soon as possible. So, it’s generally not advisable to keep sending texts if you don’t hear back from the person; this often is viewed as rude and overbearing.
INSIGHTS: Add rule #8: do not text, “Call Me.” If we need to talk, call me. If I know you, I will take your call or call you back if I am busy. If I don’t know you, make sure your voicemail includes a reason we should talk. For example, remind me of a benefit of your product or service. Suddenly, many think a “call me” text is a magic bullet. It is not.
