There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying the experience of a compliment. Do we need to be able to receive praise well? Not in the same way that we need air to breathe or a roof over our heads, but it certainly makes for a better experience at work (or life in genera!) when you’re able to receive and appreciate the value of a compliment.

Think of a compliment like a gift they are giving you – if someone gave you a thoughtful birthday gift, would you brush it off, pass it along to someone else or return it? And if you did, how do you think that would make the giver feel? That, essentially, is what you’re doing when you don’t accept praise fully and completely.
INSIGHTS: It helps to remember that praise is the expression of approval or admiration for someone or something, while flattery is excessive and insincere praise, especially that given to further one’s own interests.
