The number of backyard poultry flocks continues to grow. New owners need practical advice. A lot of questions I get right now are disease issues. Not that poultry are disease-ridden animals or anything like that, but folks may have some issues with birds that just aren’t acting or feeling themselves, so they’ll call me and we’ll discuss those issues. A lot of times it’s a management-type thing – just the way they’re caring for those birds and sometimes it does require a veterinarian.” Emily Shoop, PennState Extension.
