Learning how to set up and run no-kill shelters for cats and dogs is the goal of a new certificate program at Southern Utah University. In partnership with the Best Friends Animal Society <link>, the program will be offered mostly online, so students anywhere can sign up for the courses.

The credits earned will translate to a certificate in executive leadership but can also count toward any bachelor’s or master’s degree at the university, too, particularly those in business, public administration and interdisciplinary studies, said SUU President Scott Wyatt.
INSIGHTS: The advances in shelter care in the last 10 years have been transformative, to say the least. It is critical that animal health manufacturers, suppliers and animal health pros from all disciplines ensure there is sufficient infrastructure to support the increased numbers of patient and clients.
