A new study . . . showed two key findings:
1) dogs with Ehrlichia antibodies in E. canis-endemic areas have a 300 percent increased risk of kidney disease; and
2) dogs with B. burgdorferi (the causative agent of Lyme disease) antibodies in Lyme-endemic areas have a 43 percent increased risk of kidney disease.
INSIGHTS: The actual study <link> is interesting reading. Strategically, it underscores the value of accessing and combining data from multiple sources to analyze risk that could not be done in the confines of a single practice.
