If you’re not getting negative feedback from time to time, you are not pushing your limits. Negative feedback is a fact of life and some negativity is especially personal and biting. I’ve written extensively on the value of the pause—a technique that involves taking a few moments (or sometimes more) to stop and think before taking action. The pause is so valuable because it allows you to get your emotions under control and think things through before saying or doing something that you regret.
INSIGHTS: Acknowledging another point of view with which you do not agree does not imply agreement. You are simply acknowledging another person’s right to a different point of view at that moment in the conversation.
