- Lincoln Memorial University is suing the American Veterinary Medical Association eight months after its veterinary school was put on accreditation probation.
- The complaint filed today alleges the AVMA’s Council on Education, which accredits veterinary schools primarily in the United States and Canada, is engaged in “a conspiracy to control, manipulate, and reduce new competition….”
- LMU claims the COE has jeopardized the future of its veterinary college in Tennessee and a second school it plans in Florida by applying an accreditation standard relating to research programs in an arbitrary and capricious manner.
- The university is seeking an injunction against the COE and is asking that the court order “the complete and total separation” of the veterinary accreditor from the trade association.
