Jaffe shares 3 basic layers of bandages:
- Contact (primary) layer: Touches the wound directly and is most important
- Intermediate (secondary) layer: Holds the contact layer in place
- Outer (tertiary) layer: Holds the intermediate layer and provides an external barrier
