INSIGHTS: Years ago in a discussion with a solo, mobile equine veterinarian, I suggested he simply hire a gofer to help him capture charges, drugs dispensed and also run between the truck and animals. The result? Within 90 days, the lost charges paid for a year’s wages for the gofer as measured by average invoice charges and reduction in inventory adjustments and variances. The gofer got an immediate raise after the doctor ran the numbers.
