I am not sure there is a way to adequately prepare yourself to see the Grand Canyon for the first time. But for those who have always lived nearby it is just a fact of life, part of the usual environment. Like a habit.

Replacing a bad habit with a good one is not as easy as that sounds, but it is doable. You do not have to be a victim of your routines, even if the water has been flowing that way for a long time.
INSIGHT: Patient persistence is key. Generally, it takes 21 days of reinforcement to create a new and better habit.
