This was a disheartening read. Sure, employers and managers can make a difference through communication and setting expectations. Yet, employees must come to grips with their own expectations and the continuous improvement necessary to remain successfully employed and contribute to a business’s objectives.*
Issues with childcare, feedback and recognition are not new. We noted this statement, “improving economic conditions shifts employees from angry to indifferent, but not from indifferent to inspired.” Indifference (aka apathy) is the most difficult of attitudes to correct.
In this article, the authors attest the workplace has yet to recover from the pandemic. They present data and trends that highlight a leadership challenge: inspiring and supporting teams through significant change and uncertainty.
