While scrolling through Facebook recently, a video reel of Bill Walton, former pro basketball player and sportscaster, popped up. He describes phrases from famed NCAA basketball coach John Wooden and closes with the title of this post. The short reel and Walton’s delivery of Wooden-isms may be enjoyable, if not thought provoking. It was for me.

- “Happiness begins when selfishness ends”
- “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail”
- “When everybody thinks a like, nobody thinks”

Providing a curation service for animal health pros over the last nine years has been enlightening and definitely an education. Almost gone are the days of sitting in a soft chair to read through a stack of printed magazines. Expanding digital communications and social media increases the challenge of selecting actionable content versus informational news. It has also more than tripled the replication of the “same content” in different platforms or under different media brands and subbrands.
Despite all the changes and current strategic turmoil, the challenges of people helping people who have animals, keeping food supplies safe and educating animal owners to be stewards of their animals’ lives and wellness remain foundational to our industry’s success.
“It’s okay to disagree, just don’t be disagreeable.” – John Wooden
