Commentary
My first gut response to this article could be described as bah, hum-bug. Reading the context, I remembered some tough personal times when entering my workplace felt like a relief, a place where I was acknowledged and a place where something could happen almost predictably. Reflecting, I remain connected to some of the people from those past places and remember them with a smile.
Katie Anderson writes happiness is a state of emotional well-being, either in the moment or overall that is more foundational to our experience as human beings. Happiness is not about small employee perks or fun workplace additions such as ping-pong tables or catered meals. She says happiness cannot be measured. You experience it. You help create the conditions that result in it.
