A line in the 1955 lyrics from Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s stage show Oklahoma says, “They’ve gone about as fer as they c’n go!” They were wrong.
Each year, a few more animal health pros are missing from the original group of about 100 of us that met in 2003 in a fall gathering sponsored by the Kansas City Area Development Council. From those SmartCities commitments and homecoming ideas, the KC Animal Health Corridor was born as part of the ThinkKC area economic development efforts.
This year’s KCAH Corridor Summit was one of the largest. Held in the historic Midland Theatre, the past and the future came together to celebrate over 300 companies and 20,000 people working in the corridor. The KC Corridor stretches from Columbia and St. Joseph, Missouri, to Manhattan, Kansas. The Summit draws new and emerging companies to join the growth in this region which now represents 56 percent of worldwide animal health, diagnostics, and pet food sales.
