Veterinary teams can boost the owner-cat relationship by educating clients about subtle shifts they may observe in their cats’ behaviors. Tracking these shifts can help the owner and veterinary team determine if a behavior needs attention or is simply an anomaly.

Encourage caregivers to observe the daily behaviors, including activity, appetite, drinking, elimination, grooming, social interaction, and play . . . and note even small changes in frequency, intensity, or timing to establish their cat’s specific behavior trends.”
INSIGHTS: Cat owners can use pen and paper, notes on a smartphone, information from a digital tracking device or GPS to track cat behavior. The most important thing to remember is to ensure data can easily and effectively be shared with veterinary teams and service providers.
