Reproductive technologies, when used appropriately, improve herd health, efficiency, genetics and overall profitability, writes Roselyn Biggs, DVM. Enhanced reproductive technologies exist for herds using bulls, as well as those using artificial insemination. She notes low percentage use of estrous synchronization, even though it can be effective and provide benefits in many reproductive management scenarios.
