We posted the sell-out results of the Bridge Club event that focused on the Veterinary Nurse initiative last week. Bridge Club founder, Catherine Haskins, summarized audience interactions and Ken Yagi’s responses for AHD:
- The big question asked by the community was “why?” According to Yagi, the effort started with many veterinary technicians asking how the profession could unite. Standardizing credentialing requirements presents an opportunity to unify the industry under one title, veterinary nurse.
- “The main reason to change the title is our profession has evolved,” said Yagi. “We’ve gone from being technicians that are associated with having expertise in the science and technology to being veterinary nurses that have a patient-centered model of care that we provide, using science and technology in order to support our critical thinking.”
- Due to interest in this first conversation, the Veterinary Nurse Initiative is identifying more dates to have additional town hall-type forums on The Bridge Club. Watch https://thebridgeclub.com/for upcoming dates.
