Jenifer Chatfield, DVM, Dipl. ACZM, Dipl. ACVPM, just launched the first episode in a unique YouTube series she calls, “Is this a thing? Veterinary Translations for Pet Owners!” Her new effort will serve to bridge the communication gap between pet owners, animal care professionals and veterinary medical teams.
By addressing the basic tenets of animal stewardship and animal husbandry in short instructional videos, Dr. Jen, the vet, hopes to improve animal’s lives by improving communication among the humans who care for them. Topics will be guided by questions submitted to her by pet owners. Each episode will cover issues faced in clinical practice and will feature her personal “edutainment” format that has made her one of the more popular speakers at veterinary conferences nationwide.
Dr. Jen is passionate about supporting pet owners interested in learning how to provide the best care possible outside the veterinary exam room and helping veterinary team members improve conversations with clients during every clinical encounter. Although the show will begin with dog issues, she will quickly integrate issues specific to cats, rabbits, backyard chickens, varieties of birds, pocket pets, reptiles and any other animal Dr. Jen learns about in viewers’ emails. Given her diverse career background, Dr. Jen is unlikely to shy away from any species or topic submitted!
