The Consortium on Workplace-Based Education and Learning launches to provide an effective veterinary clinical educational experience at locations around the world that are not on a campus, also known as distributed learning.

Veterinary programs using the distributive community based educational learning are successfully graduating well prepared veterinarians that are confident and competent to meet societal needs” – John Weale, DVM founding member of COWBEL
INSIGHTS: Distributed learning can be executed multiple ways. However, it consistently accommodates geographically disparate locations for part, or all, of the learners’ clinical instruction, education and training. It also focuses on learner-to-learner as well as instructor-to-learner interactions.
Students are exposed to real-world case content with immediate oversight of on-site experienced veterinarians and the oversight of the distributive program at the veterinary college. The students’ preclinical education and training, combined with the clinical year program experience, prepares new veterinarians to be ready for their careers at graduation.
