The popular veterinary practice-based Cost of Care Wheel tool from the ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance program is now available in an enhanced client-based online version that can be used anytime, anywhere.
Discussing money is never easy but it is important to educate and urge pet owners prepare for their pet’s future health care needs, and how to pay for them.”
Both tools are based on actual claims data for accident, illness and preventive care invoices submitted over a five-year time frame for nine popular dog breeds and five cat breeds including:
- The average cost of care per year for the selected breed and age
- The average cost of care for the pet with one insurance claim at the same life stages.
- The actual amount spent on healthcare by half of the clients owning the same breed at each of the three life stages.
The Digital Cost of Care platform for clients includes a few extras:
- Common conditions associated with the breed and age of pet
- Examples of the cost to treat the common conditions highlighted
- Ideas/education to help the client prepare for their pet’s lifetime costs of veterinary care
