Ugh! Right? It isn’t over until it’s over, so we are sharing this article on how Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants are sweeping through the United States. A recent study found that, compared to the previously dominant Omicron version BA.2.12, these more contagious subvariants are four times more resistant to Covid-19 vaccines and are more likely to cause breakthrough infections.
What do we do?
Consider these actions to boost safety with individuals, team members, clients and animals:
- Get a booster shot if over 50 years of age and you’ve not yet gotten one in 2022
- Review and update cleaning and disinfection protocols with entire staff
- Consider increasing face mask use and safe distancing

INSIGHTS: Many will choose to ignore the inherent warnings in this update. Animal health pros are very aware of how viral variants can wreak havoc in animal populations. We’ve learned a lot in the last 30 months about proper masks, disinfection, distancing and safety providing veterinary medicine as an essential business.
