Measuring the impact of community and social efforts is more difficult than measuring traditional business, Cargill CEO Dave MacLennan says, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t real. “My job is to care about expenses and profitability. But my view is, you know what, it may be short term expensive, or it may be short term capital intensive, but ultimately it will make us more successful,” he says.
