While plain water can address hydration needs, evidence suggests that dogs drink more total water when offered an oral electrolyte solution in addition to plain water.
INSIGHTS: Table 1 is a good resource for new pet caregivers. It shows normal daily water intake for healthy dogs at maintenance. For example, my 14-pound Morkie needs 1.3 ounces per hour or four 8-ounce glasses of water daily.
