Finding better ways to educate veterinary students is currently a hot topic in animal health. The Tufts at Tech Clinical Rotation at Cumming Veterinary School of Medicine was the site of a study to assess student confidence levels working in accessible care before and after participating in a service-learning-based community veterinary rotation.
We contacted John Weale, DVM, MS, executive director of the Consortium on Workplace-Based Education and Learning, to provide a summary from his perspective as an educator. The study was published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science, June 17, 2021. Link.

INSIGHTS: Thank you Dr. Weale for reviewing this study for AHD. The old proverb, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime,” applies here.
