It’s easy to forget about mink production, especially if you live in a region where mink have never been raised, writes Roy Graber. The fact that a provision that would outlaw commercial mink farms in the U.S. made it into a larger legislative bill should be concerning to anyone involved in animal agriculture, he says.
Animal agriculture has been under intense scrutiny in recent years. Housing practices that confine animals are routinely cited when animal rights advocates object to production practices. Whether you agree or disagree with fur farming or the Covid reasoning, confinement practices are part of poultry, swine, fish, dairy and beef production making this action worth wider consideration.

Now that a bill to completely shut down the mink industry has made its way through the House, the ante is raised. It could someday happen to other animal agriculture industries as well.” – Roy Graber
