Americans say they care more about animal welfare than children’s education and hunger. That’s according to the findings of the “Causes Americans Care About,” a new study that gathered responses from 1,000 adults:
- 41% chose animal welfare number one.
- Children’s education ranked second with 38% of respondents.
- Hunger, chosen by 33% of respondents ranked number three.
- Disease research was number four.
- Disaster relief number five.

Gender, nationality and economic status adjusted ranking somewhat. People with a household income of $49,000 or less have the same list of top three causes as the general population, but those with a household income of $100,000 to $150,000 prioritize the environment over hunger.
