The CATalyst Council’s first-of-its-kind data set and the resulting reports will help animal health pros in animal health companies, shelter and adoption organizations, and the veterinary community. It provides insights on feline wellness and nutrition as well as relational dynamics between cat owners and their veterinarians.
In addition to the top three issues veterinarians report as facing the profession, critical takeaways include:
- 35 percent of cat owners previously had very little or no experience owning a cat
- >70 percent of cats visited a veterinarian within the first year of ownership while >33 percent did not visit the veterinarian in 3 or more years
- Cat owners reported that their veterinarian provided instructions on how to make transport less stressful only 30 percent of the time which contrasts with veterinarians reporting they did 65 percent of the time.
