The 2017 NAVC set attendance records in the new venue at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida. As the 33rd annual event opened, it was announced it will be known as the Veterinary Meeting & Expo, or VMX, starting in 2018. The “Meeting” portion of the name encompasses all of the world-class educational offerings of the event, while “Expo” illustrates the exhibit, sponsorship and partnership components.

17,328 total attendees included:
- 7,087 Veterinarians
- 1,613 Veterinary technicians
- 601 Practice managers
- 407 Support staff
- 894 Students
- 4,276 Exhibitors
- 2,238 Family members/guests
- 122 Media representatives
